CCN'09 Trailer

Each year students from UCR's Chinese Student Association come together to put on a culture show for the community, students, family and friends. Year after year the cultural shows have shared with everyone many unforgettable stories and ideals of life as Chinese Americans. Every year students take time out of their studies to display their appreciation of culture and their connections to their heritages.

Through months of rewriting, rehearsing, and even financial obstacles, the process of creating such a show has brought together many students. It has created friendships and bonds through bringing them closer to their chinese heritage.

After a long year's of planning and hard work, this year's culture show is quickly approaching. We are all very excited to introduce and welcome you to join us in this year's Culture Night show:

Happy Chinese New Year

Hey guys, quick update! The staff and I would like to wish you ALL a happy chinese new year! Our last meeting was about the discussion of chinese new year, and what traditions we did.  I thought it was very educational, since I learned some stories of why certain things happened, like why we cleaned up our houses and appearnce in preparations (by the way, I hope you all cleaned up your homes!) or the reason why there are firecrackers with lion dances.  I hope you guys enjoy your family dinners and hopefully get lots of money from red envelopes!.

Hey guys! We're back for the new year, and boy do we have an exciting quarter.  We had a quick meeting last night, going over the agenda for the winter quarter.

Things to expect this quarter:

-Culture Night. We're going to be starting practices soon. Tonight, the 7th at 8 will be our first culture night meeting. Please come by to receive your roles.  Even if you haven't signed up yet and you still want to participate, just come in and we'll find something for you!

-CHF. Chinese Heritage Festival is an annual gathering of the Universities of socal, such as UCLA, UCI, UCLA, UCSD, & USC, to hang out with them and to compete in certain games, such as tug-a-war, balloon stomp, dodgeball, and etc.  There's also an exhibition of the dance crews from each school, which includes our fabulous EVO.  Tune in for more info on the event.  I believe it takes place at UCLA this year.

-Winter Retreat. For the first time ever, we're allowing our members to come with us to Big Bear for the 3 day weekend! From the 16-19th we'll be heading over to the snowy region, making snowmen, snowboarding (not me of course, since I left all my stuff in norcal).  It'll be a great time to get to know you guys, and what better way than to enjoy a nice coozy cabin, eating a potluck in the winter cold? Let a staff member know if you're interested, because spaces are limited (unless we find more drivers!!!)

-Membership. Time to get your membership cards! They're 15 dollars, but you also get a cool t-shirt AND discounts to many resturants around the area, such as university cafe, life cafe, boba cafe, pho express.

-Chinese New Year clubbing event.  Come by and dance the night away, while enjoying a great dance from EVO
